展会说明

Fudan University x Cell Press 2026 International Conference is jointly hosted by Fudan University School of Life Sciences , State Key Laboratory of Complex Phenotype Genetics and Development and Cell Press. Bringing together population and disease genetics, organoid biology, and regenerative medicine, this conference links fundamental questions in biology to clinical applications. The four sessions 1) Population Genetics and Evolution; 2) Genetics of Disease; 3) Organoid Models of Disease and Development; and 4) Regenerative Medicine: Translating Cell and Gene Therapies to the Clinic aim to highlight how genetic variation and developmental programs drive disease, and how human-relevant models and therapeutic strategies can be translated to the clinic. This meeting will feature cutting-edge research and foster scientific communication on a global scale, with a focus on accelerating progress toward precision medicine and regenerative strategies that benefit patients.

Fudan University School of Life Sciences

The School of Life Sciences at Fudan University is the first school of life sciences established within a Chinese university. It was founded in 1986 by the distinguished geneticist Professor Jiazhen Tan and is currently led by Professor Lingfei Luo. The school traces its origins back to the Department of Psychology, established by Guo Renyuan in 1923, which was reorganized as the Department of Biology in 1926. Over a century of sustained development, the School now hosts two nationally recognized "Double First-Class" disciplines: Biology (A+) and Ecology (A). It is home to two National Key Laboratories, one National Field Observation and Research Station, one National Center for High-Level Talent Cultivation, and four provincial- and ministerial-level research platforms.

The School has 234 faculty and staff members, including 89 full professors. A total of 75 members have been selected for national talent programs, among them four academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The School embraces two postdoctoral research stations, currently hosting 156 postdoctoral fellows, and has repeatedly been honored as a National Outstanding Postdoctoral Research Station. Since its establishment, the School has educated more than 17,000 graduates, including academic pioneers such as Dizhou Tong and Depei Feng, as well as 16 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and 3 members of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. Numerous alumni have become leaders in their respective fields.

Over the past five years, the School has undertaken over 100 major projects, including those supported by the National Key Research and Development Program, with an average annual research funding exceeding RMB 180 million. Its faculty members have published a series of high-impact papers in leading international journals such as Nature, Science, and Cell, and have received numerous provincial- and ministerial-level scientific and technological awards. The School is advancing steadily toward its goal of becoming a world-class school of life sciences, consistently contributing core strength to the development of “First-Class Fudan.”

State Key Laboratory of Genetics and Development of Complex Phenotypes

The State Key Laboratory of Genetics and Development of Complex Phenotypes (SKLGDP) derives from the State Key Laboratory of Genetic Engineering (SKLGE), which was established in 1984 at Fudan University under the leadership of the founding director Dr. Jiazhen Tan, an international-renowned geneticist and the father of modern genetics in China. The SKLGE was the first batch of national key laboratories in China, and completed its reorganization to become SKLGDP in 2024. The laboratory is currently directed by Professor Li Jin.

The SKLGDP aims to understand correlations and causalities between genes and phenotypes, as well as mechanisms underpinning phenotype development, maintenance, and remodeling. There are three major tasks in the SKLGDP: 1) Phenomic measurements and analyses of complex phenotypes. 2) Genetic basis and developmental mechanisms of complex phenotypes. 3) Maintenance and remodeling of complex phenotypes. Thus, the SKLGDP is addressing major questions in areas of genetics and developmental biology, including genetic and epigenetic basis of physiological and disease phenotypes, phenotype development and maintenance, evolutionary and artificial remodeling of phenotypes, organ regeneration and reconstruction, genetic engineering and technology development. Concurrently, the laboratory closely collaborates with hospitals and industry to promote translational research.

Currently, the SKLGDP has over 100 principal investigators, most of who are affiliated with the School of Life Sciences, and others from other institutions and hospitals at Fudan. These principal investigators include 34 senior experts such as NSFC Distinguished Young Scholars and Cheung Kong Scholars, and 55 young talented scientists.

The SKLGDP core facilities 118 advanced research instruments and 24-hour-service. The instruments are subdivided into the areas of organoids and single-cell analysis, protein structures, nucleic acid and genomics, imagines, proteomics, and metabolomics.

With its well-trained scientists, a strong supporting platform, and 40 years of excellence in research, the SKLGDP is strongly positioned to embrace the new opportunities and challenges of life sciences. Committed to excellence and innovation, the SKLGDP promotes international scientific exchange and cooperation, and sincerely welcome interaction and collaboration from scientists worldwide.
